410 Medical, based in Durham, NC, is focused on innovative technology to improve resuscitation of critically ill patients. 410’s lead product, LifeFlow, is designed to enable clinicians to more effectively and efficiently deliver fluids to patients with shock and sepsis in urgent need of rapid fluid resuscitation.  LifeFlow was cleared by the FDA in 2016 and is currently being marketed in the United States.
Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of our company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. The Controller is a critical role that manages the timely and accurate processing and sharing of results and information that supports that success and growth of the company.
The specific roles and responsibilities includes those listed below.  
Duties and Responsibilities:
·       Work with executive team to develop and manage to company budget
·       Construct and monitor financial and accounting processes control systems
·       Ensure timely and accurate completion of periodic financial reports
·       Manage the day-to-day income and expense ledgers
·       Develop sales reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO)
·       Process and pay invoices and expense reports
·       Process purchase orders, sales orders and invoice customers, including sales and use tax
·       Maintain sales and inventory logs with appropriate documentation
·       Conduct periodic account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
·       Manage and approve all payrolls, including payroll taxes
·       Process monthly sales and use tax through state
·       Work with tax accountants to develop tax strategies, produce tax reports and submit to state and federal agencies in a timely manner
·       Ensure that all aspects of accounting and finance are carried out in accordance with company policies and that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards
·       Work with sales team to set up new customers, new products and receive orders
·       Partner with HR on compliance matters
 Skills/ Qualifications:
·  BS or BA in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
·  Proven experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager in a start-up or early-stage commercial company
·  Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and best practices, including healthcare-specific reporting and compliance
·  Demonstrated ability to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders 
·  Knowledge of data analysis and reporting
·  Excellent organizational and project management skills
·  Ability to function independently
·  Ability to adapt to a changing environment and identify/solve problems efficiently
